It is a great time of year to experience the reclaimed estuary\, see a wide variety of seasonal birds and wildlife\, and see the varied landscape of the refuge. \nfrom:https://www.fws.gov/refuge/billy-frank-jr-nisqually/what-we-do \nIn 2009\, in partnership with the Nisqually Indian Tribe and Ducks Unlimited\, Inc.\, the largest estuary restoration project in the Pacific Northwest was completed with the removal of the century-old Brown Farm Dike in the Nisqually River Delta. The tides returned to 762 acres of estuary. The enhancement of freshwater wetlands diversifies available habitat and assists in the recovery of Puget Sound salmon and wildlife populations. Subsequent monitoring and research is documenting the changes over time and the benefits to fish and wildlife\, both within the Delta and beyond in South Puget Sound.  \nBring with you: \n\nCamera with telephoto lens for wildlife photography – tripods are recommended for 300mm lens or longer\nYour phone for landscapes\nBinoculars for wildlife viewing if you don’t have a long lens\nGood walking shoes – expect at least a mile of walking\nHat and Gloves – Michele loves hand warmers!\nWarm coat with Windbreaker or Rain Coat – it gets breezy\n\nAlso planning a Zoom photo workshop/critiques – TBA
